Hike & Fly

AARON DUROGATI

Aaron Durogati (1986) is a professional paragliding athlete, born in Merano and raised among the highest peaks of the Italian Alps. He flew for the first time at six, in tandem with his father, and by fifteen was flying solo. From then on he built his life around the mountains — paragliding, skiing, climbing, speed riding and base jumping, often all in the same day.

A two-time Paragliding World Champion and veteran of every Red Bull X-Alps edition since 2013, he won the 2025 edition. His hike and fly competitive record includes first places at the Wanderbird Hike & Fly Trophy, X Slovenia, Stubai and Mayrhofen.

Beyond competition, he logs around 500 flights and 350 to 400 hours in the air every year. He has made pioneering flights in the Himalayas and Karakoram, including a 312 km triangle in Pakistan in 2022 — an Asian record.  A licensed paragliding instructor, he also coaches the Merano ski team and collaborates with Gin Gliders on the development and testing of paragliding wings.

Alpinism

Luca Schiera

Luca Schiera (1990) — rising talent of Italian alpinism and president of the Ragni di Lecco — grew up as a climber in the mountains of Val Masino, introduced to the sport by his father on the sunny slabs of Val di Mello thirty years ago. He moves across very different terrain — from sport climbing to big mixed walls, both free and aid — and on the right days launches off summits on a paraglider.

His curiosity takes him far: Torre Egger in Patagonia in 2013 with Matteo Della Bordella, Baffin Island in 2016 with Della Bordella and De Zaiacomo — where he discovers his passion for long approaches across the arctic tundra. In 2017, Cerro Mariposa with Paolo Marazzi, descending the valley by inflatable raft through the rapids. In 2019 with Marazzi he completes the Val Masino trilogy in a single day — Picco Luigi Amedeo, Qualido and Scingino — and climbs the west face of Bhagirathi IV in the Himalaya with Della Bordella and De Zaiacomo. Between 2020 and 2023 he returns with Marazzi to the Campo de Hielo Norte in Patagonia. After years of exploration through the glacial labyrinth they find the wall of their dreams: Cerro Nora Oeste (900 metres of 6a and M7 in a single day). In 2026 he attempts the central line on the west face of Torre Egger with Mauri and Rivadossi. Next goal: the first ascent route of Fitz Roy with Matteo Colico — the French Route, 600 metres up to 7a.

Offshore sailing

Luca Rosetti

Luca Rosetti is an Italian professional sailor born in Bologna in 1995. After taking up sailing at the age of six, he has turned his lifelong passion into a successful career. In 2023, Rosetti secured a pivotal victory in the Mini Transat, a feat that paved the way for a major partnership with Maccaferri. This collaboration gave rise to Maccaferri Futura, a high-performance and innovative Class40 yacht with which Luca will compete in the 2026 Route du Rhum.

Maccaferri Futura, however, is not just a sporting project, but also a research platform that transforms the boat into a veritable floating laboratory: in collaboration with universities and research institutions, data is collected on board the boat to study issues related to environmental sustainability and human performance. In fact, ocean sailing—whether solo or with small crews—is one of the most complex and physically and mentally demanding sports. The project aims to systematically investigate the impact of this activity on the health and performance of skippers through a multidisciplinary approach that integrates medicine, sports physiology, and environmental sciences. In this context, the issue of onboard nutrition is crucial; food becomes a strategic resource not only for its energy content but also for the crew’s morale and psychological resilience.
