Room Service is an AlpineStandards initiative dedicated to the upkeep of unmanaged high-altitude mountain huts. From March to September, the team reaches around 5 Italian bivouacs for light interventions — cleaning, tidying, and emergency restocking — with no structural modifications or permanent installations. Akta contributes by providing freeze-dried meals for the emergency kit left in each visited bivouac.

In the April issue of Seahorse Magazine, Akta contributes an article on the history of food at sea — from hardtack and salted meat to modern freeze-dried meals. Read Fuel for the crew.

Akta was part of Shelter Stories by Vibram.  Alongside alpinist Hervé Barmasse, the Vibram Tester Team and local mountain guides, participants explored the mountains near Milan, developing a more conscious and responsible approach to alpine environments. At Rifugio Albani, Akta curated a mountain-inspired culinary experience that brought the journey to a close — blending heritage, community and a shared passion for the mountains.

On the occasion of The Ocean Race Europe stopover in Genova, Akta co-hosted the event: “Human Performance in Extreme Conditions: A Roundtable with The Ocean Race” . The Ocean Race is the toughest challenge in offshore crewed sailing — pushing athletes to their physical, mental and emotional limits through sleep deprivation, harsh weather and relentless competition. These extreme conditions make it a unique laboratory for studying elite human performance under prolonged stress. Alongside The Ocean Race and the City of Genova, we brought together sailors, sports scientists, nutritionists and industry leaders to explore cutting-edge strategies in nutrition, crew health and performance management — with the goal of making elite sports science more accessible and relevant beyond the race course.
